Halton Lea – Cradle to Career

Working with the community, our ambition is to strengthen collective working practices to improve the systems that support children, young people and their families in Halton Lea.

Education

Currently in Halton Lea, there are seven schools involved in the project, which aims to improve support for vulnerable learners by equipping staff to understand child development challenges. The various interventions taken by the schools are Literacy-based or Social, Emotional, and Mental Health-based (SEMH). The Halton Lea programme also works alongside the Northwood programme. They have collective projects across schools in both areas, focusing on KS3 Speech and Language and Literacy.

Services

One of the Cradle to Career aims in Halton Lea is to improve the local offer for young people and establish a local multidisciplinary team to ensure the local community and families are supported, and barriers to accessing services are reduced.

One of the services of the programme is the Family Connectors.

Their role is to build strong relationships with residents and services, supporting local people to access the services they need. The Family Connectors are managed by Involve North West, who have also played a huge role in the North Birkenhead community.

They offer a whole family approach to improve overall health and wellbeing. Supporting individuals within the family to achieve their goals and aspirations. They are there to empower and support families to break down barriers and reduce any challenges they may be facing.

They can also connect local residents to groups and organisations within their community that may be of assistance to them. The Family Connectors are a vital part of the local Multi Disciplinary Teams and a “walking yellow pages” of support options for our communities.
